Escitalopram (20mg) for anxiety disorder

after a year of health problems, the GP referred me to a psychiatrist: she determined: generalised anxiety. started by taking escitalopram: 5, 10, 15 and now 20 mg. In the meantime I have realised that I only respond properly to tablets from Sandoz and when I get a different one from the pharmacy (the insurer decides what they're prepared to pay for) I don't feel at my best. now I'm paying for ...

Escitalopram (10mg) for anxiety & panic disorder

I am burdened with anxiety and panic attacks as a result of recurring chest pains. For years I was under the impression of having a heart condition. Every time I had a pain in my chest or my heartbeat would accelerate an attack would follow, very annoying : (. Since yesterday I started taking this medicine and I hope to see good results. Reading the experiences here gives me faith, but I do fee...

Escitalopram (10mg) for chronic depression

This drug works well, however 10 mg gives me continuous diarrhoea. That is why I use 5 mg, but it is still not ideal. I take it in combination with bupropion (Wellbutrin 150mg) to prevent loss of libido.

Escitalopram (10mg) for depression

Had very bad experience with this medicine. Got it for hyperventilation / anxiety / depression. After taking 10 mg for one week I suddenly started getting more panic attacks that were inexplicable, essentially out of the blue. Also got hot flushes, dry mouth, dizzy spells, headache. I felt apart from the world and developed a kind of derealisation/depersonalisation. This has just made it all w...

Escitalopram (10mg) for unrest

These medicines work for my peace of mind and relax my muscles, I started off taking a different sort, but in the long term I have nothing good to say about them. On these ones I feel reasonable.

Escitalopram (10mg) for depression

I take escitalopram because I was depressed during my pregnancy. The first few weeks were difficult, I struggled with depression, tiredness, headaches, listlessness etc but after these weeks I started to feel a bit better. After labour I was really low for a number of weeks but recently my mood has increased. After I had him, my son and I had to stay in for checks but this was actually really g...

Escitalopram (10mg) for anxiety & panic disorder

The first three weeks I didn't feel any better in terms of anxiety but I was more positive in terms of my mood. I do get really tired quite often, get a kind of dull feeling in my head and occasional headaches. After three weeks I noticed a definite difference, I feel calmer, more assured and almost not anxious at all. I also suffer from compulsive thoughts and these are still there. But becaus...

Escitalopram (10mg) for anxiety & panic disorder

This helps me to sleep really well. If I'm tired, I fall asleep straight away, otherwise it takes half an hour. I do have negative and life-like dreams, almost every night. During the day I suffer with dizziness and blood pressure is a bit low. I bleed really easily and I lose litres of blood every month during my period. The last one I came off them which was nice and it wasn't too bad. That's...

Escitalopram (10mg) for anxiety & panic disorder

I've been taking this drug now for 10 days and I have had good moments in that I feel awake and calm, mostly in the afternoon. It's annoying that it makes you so sleepy. It seems to take hours before you are properly awake. Hours after getting up it's still difficult to concentrate and the absent feeling stays for hours and hours. It is the exact same feeling as drowsiness/lightheadedness/absen...

Escitalopram (20mg) for anxiety disorder

First two weeks lots of really bad side-effects. Then there were periods of a few months when it worked well. But after a few years, in combination with psychologists, or problems with side-effects and less effect on what I was taking for. It helped to keep the symptoms under control as much as possible. I felt at ease. But it was no solution to my problem.

Escitalopram (15mg) for depression

At the beginning I was taking 5 mg a day. But my depression got worse. So the psychiatrist increased the dose to 10 mg a day. Depression got even worse. I really had the feeling that the escitalopram was making it worse. The specialist disagreed with me and increased it even more to 15 mg a day. On 15 mg a day my life was unbearable. I didn't want to exist any more, wanted to throw myself out o...

Escitalopram (20mg) for depression

Still annoying to have to take it: loss of clarity and libido. But I need to take something for my whole life because of congenital depression.

Escitalopram (10mg) for dysthymia

Didn't work at all and to start with I went into a deep, dark place. This is a known effect of this medicine but how do you cope with it? perhaps it's because of too low a dose, but my healthcare provider isn't allowed to increase the strength of this medicine because of the almost daily suicidal thoughts that arise... Now, alongside the escitalopram I have also been given seroquel and boy oh b...
