Metoprolol (50mg) for atrial fibrillation

I've had loads of problems with heart flutters and atrial fibrillation and was admitted to hospital where my heart rate was returned to normal, as a result I had to take metoprolol which made me really tired and short of breath. After a while my body got used to it and things got better, but I'm still severely restricted in the activities I can manage, after just one day of work I was totally e...

Metoprolol (200mg) for high blood pressure

Because of TIAs and high BP, I've been on metoprolol for years, starting with once a day on 100 mg most recently up to 200 mg. I'm always tired, my BP is getting higher, I'm unsettled, not sleeping well. Does anyone else have experience with this and is there a better drug for reducing BP without other symptoms?

Metoprolol (100mg) for atrial fibrillation

Given this for chest fibrillations. Works by restricting heart beat frequency and does it well, too. Had normal heart rate for two days after cardioversion but then I reverted bad to the chest fibrillations.

Metoprolol (50mg) for heart failure (HF)

I've been on Metoprolol since 2012, as well as Ramipril and Spirinolacton because of heart failure. Since then, the pump function of my heart has fallen to just 17% and the dose has been increased to 200 mg a day. This gave me very low blood pressure and I was really tired and short. After talking to the doctor, we reduced this to 50 mg. Pump function went back up to 35%. I work full time. And...

Metoprolol (100mg) for heart pain

Started on 25 mg, but that didn't help so quickly increased to 50 mg, this was also hardly effective at all so then I was on 100 mg. really suffered with the side effects, including extreme tiredness, breathlessness, skin rash, mood swings, cold hands and feet, discolouration of hands, unsettled etc.

Metoprolol (50mg) for anxiety disorder

I got this from the GP in the post and was simply prescribed more without further investigations I am 40 and never had anything wrong with my heart but this has to be a temporary medication due to stress. Now I've got a different doctor who says stop while other doctors carry on prescribing it, purely this confusion is what has prompted me to question it My blood pressure is good and okay so my...

Metoprolol (25mg) for cardiac arrhythmia

Very excessive sweating at minimal effort, 15 min exercise and I need to rest for 30 min. I even needed a new towel because I was sweating so much. I also started going bald, and after I stopped taking the medicine, my hair began to grow back. I tired quickly, listless, etc. But the excessive sweating was the main problem, it was literally pouring out of me, which really affected functioning no...

Metoprolol (25mg) for increased heart rate

A week ago I was given metoprolol 25 mg retard because of increased heart rate and stress, and now my heart rate is okay but I have developed high blood pressure which I never had before and I've got a very dry mouth (like a lump in my throat) so I'm coughing a lot and I get headaches so now I don't know if these are side effects or if I'm hyperventilating. has anyone else had these side effects?

Metoprolol (25mg) for increased heart rate

25 mg a day to get my too-high heart rate down ( as a result of IST disease). Very effective, even on the lowest dose my heart rate went down from 120 to 80. When I started there were a few side effects (dry mouth, pressure on my chest, fatigue), but after a few weeks they all disappeared. I started off taking them in the morning, but later I switched to taking them in the evening and I feel be...

Metoprolol (25mg) for migraine

Took metoprolol for hormonal migraines. It seemed to make sense to take the 25 mg delayed-release ones. For me, the worst side effects were feeling very stressed and insomnia. I combined it with nitrazpam every third night to get some sleep. Halved the dose after 6 weeks because of the stress and lack of sleep. Then it was totally ineffective against the migraines and the side effects were even...

Metoprolol (50) for high blood pressure

Have to take this in combination with Rasilez HCT. The GP prescribed Metoprolol without asking the nephrologist for advice. On the advice of the replacement nephrologist stopped metoprolol. no problems with side effects from the rasilex, i've been taking it for years. My blood pressure is higher because the GP prescribed metoprolol. She could have sorted this out better if she'd spoken to the i...

Metoprolol (50mg) for high blood pressure

Bloated feeling throughout the course of the day. Water retention. Weight increased. weight remains the same despite exercise and eating very healthily/little. Really tired. Got Sjörgen's and I'm concerned that this medicine isn't very good for my kidneys and other organs. My blood pressure is now 86 over 143. I'm going to ask the GP if I can stop taking this because you aren't allowed to stop ...

Metoprolol (200mg) for high blood pressure

I use several different medicines so hard to tell what causes which side effects. No idea. Metoprolol succinate and lisinopril halved because my blood pressure was too low and making me cold, but that hasn't changed. I'm now worried that I'm not on enough medication for my cardiac arrhythmia especially when it happens (not too badly) at night. As well as that I also take acenomoumarol for throm...

Metoprolol (100mg) for high blood pressure

For years I have taken at atenolol with complete satisfaction and all of a sudden it stopped working. So then I was looking for an alternative. 1st of all tried lisinopril but that made me depressed. After taking that for 2 months, I tried metoprolol succinate retard. It gave me really bad headaches, was really tired and slept loads. It also changed my sense of taste. To start off with it did a...

Metoprolol (100mg) for high blood pressure

Got this from the GP for high blood pressure in combination with antidepressants which are what gave me the high blood pressure, metoprolol works fine for me, going to keep taking it… Shame about the side-effects but most medicines have them, you need to take into account your own circumstances.

Metoprolol (100mg) for heart murmur

got an artificial heart valve in 2012 and from then on I have had to take metoprolol, I never noticed any kind of side effects but since November 2015 the pharmacist has been giving me the Sandoz brand, since then very regular diarrhoea and stomach pain which the pharmacist says is nonsense, not possible as far as he's concerned? Is there a difference between brands? Does anyone know??

Metoprolol (100mg) for cardiac arrhythmia

Had arrhythmia for years. Initially the cardiologist gave me 50 mg of metoprolol, this was really not enough because the arrhythmia often 'broke through'. Afterwards following his advice was given 100 mg and that works brilliantly! I don't have any worrying side-effects (except for occasionally getting a bit dizzy and having a dry mouth), but definitely a recommendation!

Metoprolol (100mg) for heart failure (HF)

I have gained 15 kg since I started thin medicine and suffer with shortness of breath, poor sleep and feeling of fullness, heavy legs (water retention). Now even 3 weeks after stopping taking this medicine, it still hasn't had the desired effect: blood pressure and heart rate high; although I do feel less full. My GP has started me on furosemide and if this doesn't work then restart metoprolol ...
