Medroxyprogesterone (150mg/ml) for irregular menstrual cycle
Because I had irregular periods, the GP gave me the Depo injection. The first two years were fine. Heavenly absence of any periods. The injections were pain-free. Unfortunately after 2 years I really started suffering with stomach cramps and headaches. Also have no desire to have sex any more. For these reasons I decided to stop and switch to the regular pill. Because I had a boyfriend, was often with him but regularly forgot to take my pill, I went on to the depo shot. the first one was 1987. absolutely no problems. no monthly cycle. but now i'm 50 and my hair is thinning. I've always known that I didn't want to have kids and had problems with my menstrual cycle. Particularly mood swings and lack of energy. I felt like I was living normally for 2 weeks and then had to survive the next 2. This meant that my periods only let me live half a life. I've been on depo-provera for 15 years now.
