Carbamazepine (200mg) for facial pain

I recently had my first attack of trigeminal neuralgia and it was suggested I start taking ibuprofen/paracetamol/tramadol. That didn't help so I switched to Tegretol (carbamazepine) on prescription. After a couple of weeks I'm on the maximum dose of 3×200 mg a day. Tooth ache/eye pain/headache totally disappeared after a couple of days, but I now sleep half the day away ...
