Experiences with Cetirizine

It helps quite well for the itch but as a side effect it does make me extremely sleepy. I can only take these tablets if I know I don't have to drive for the next 12 hours. So I also use it as a sleeping pill.

I've used cetirizine tables for my hayfever for years. It limits my hayfever symptoms. It just makes me a bit drowsy. So I take the tablet just before I go to bed. It works for 24 hours.

For hayfever, changeable weather, food allergies, etc. Struggled with sleepiness, mostly when I started, But because I take other medicines there are a still a few things I have to put up with. What are you going to do, though?

This works fine, but it made me very sleepy. The manual says that’s supposed to pass after a while, but it’s been two weeks already. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.

I had unbearable side effects when taking antibiotics. I was prescribed other antibiotics. The problems just got worse. Went to the pharmacist, had to stop taking the medicine immediately. That's how bad I looked. She gave me Cetirizine. It was supposed to counteract the itch within an hour.. But unfortunately, the itch got worse and the spotty rash too. For years I have suffered with shortness of breath from mid-May. Also allergic to anything and everything... (even too much deodorant) but never used Cetirizine. I used this medicine now and then. In spring I'm always affected by birch pollen and then a few months later slightly less so by grass pollen. In the autumn, it's always dust mites. If I notice that the allergy is taking over I take it for a while combined with a Prevalin nasal spray and Ventolin for my breathlessness. I have a serious cow's milk allergy + lactose intolerance (yes, they are 2 separate things!) and in the Netherlands you can't get Cetirizine without lactose. You can in Spain, made by Normon, but unfortunately that's not available in the Netherlands.

I don't suffer from hayfever because of the weather but a few times a year hayfever-type symptoms seem to appear: red eyes, bunged up nose, sniffing, etc. On advice from the GP I started taking these tablets with really good results. Very happy!
