The GP prescribed this for me because of a throat infection. I was worried about the side effects after all the negative experiences I had read on here, but personally, I found it to have very few side effects (only a little problem with some cramps and a bit of diarrhoea but it was minimal). Azithromycin

Azithromycin (500mg) for pharyngitis

My doctor prescribed this cure for phayngitis. A few hours after taking 500mg my stomach got upset and diarrhea started and lasted for 7 hours. So I ended the cure. I'd rather have a sore throat and take a few throat tablets than diarrhea.

Doxycycline (100mg) for pharyngitis

after a couple of days I started getting bumps on my shoulders and chest. they were blisters that were really itchy and burned. menthol gel helped to cool them down, particularly at night. asarone cream also helped with the itching and dried them out. Amoxicillin (250mg) for pharyngitis

I've had pharyngitis for 6 months. Amoxycillin didn't help at all and I got really bad muscle pain and cramps from it, so much that I couldn't walk. Stopped taking it 5 days ago and there's no alternative I can take because I breastfeed overnight...I finally stopped taking them with resistance pills from the chemist.
