After I had my daughter, on the advice of the GP, I had a Mirena coil fitted. In terms of protection this was fine, in terms of side-effects not: I felt bloated, had mood swings, lots of acne. My partner also found the coil irritating on occasion. Finally decided, for my own peace of mind, to have it removed. Painless!
