After 15 years (I'm now 30) I've come to the realization that I get tension headaches from the sweetener aspartame. I had several tension headaches every week. During severe attacks I took 2 x 400 mg of brufen in one go. If it was still bad couple of hours later I took another one or two. That sorted it out. That's also the max that you're allowed to take in one day (4×400). Paracetamol makes me tired. Ibuprofen means my energy levels stay the same. But I no longer have any problems because I don't eat or drink anything with sweeteners any more.
