This DNA/genes test has proven (to me and my practitioners) that people in this country must look beyond protocol and procedures. Reading through the individual web pages for the different genes both explains what the gene is and it contains a personalized section of what the particular result means for me. I found that the genes that show much less activity were especially interesting. Going through these "poor metabolizers" and comparing them to my experience with medication in the past showed some interesting results in possibly explaining the effects of some medications. In response to my coach's request to increase my antidepressants, I wanted to know if this would be a good idea, because the DNA test had been in the news. And so I decided to do this test. This made it clear that increasing the dose was not a good idea. I appear to have variations in genes that cause antidepressants to break down slowly, so I have to be careful with higher doses. What also came out is that I have the Comt "worrier" gene. This means that it takes me 4 times longer to break down stress hormones. This was a real eye-opener for me! Actually, I knew that I am sensitive to too much stress and now have a burnout for the 2nd time. But it does feel a little less stupid that I ended up in this. And for the future, it's something to keep in mind. And there was also useful information about other medicines, should I ever need them. I also liked the fun quiz. All but one of the answers were correct.

Why would you want to know your DNA? Well, now I know what to take into account! Example: the enzyme (gene) that has to break down the vitamin K in time works too slowly for me, with the result that blood can clot sooner. This could cause a tia, cerebral hemorrhage or thrombosis. My daughter has gone through many traumatic experiences with medication. She had to build up antidepressants no less than 30 times, while in the end it turned out that only the classic antidepressants work and then also guessing which ones. I had this DNA test done because I wanted to know which antidepressants would work best for me because I had previously tried an antidepressant to which I reacted very extremely. I have had various tests carried out by Insight Pharma Services BV. I have become a lot wiser and I am happy that I have taken this step. After the test, I received good guidance and extra explanation in a personal conversation via the PC. Everything made a lot of sense and I'm happy with it.

Because I had a lot of problems with my medication (eye drops for glaucoma), I requested this DNA test. And what I was already afraid of has come to the fore. The different eye drops I was prescribed stayed in my body for too long, causing me to suffer from side effects, even after changing those drops. This was so bad that I had to stop. But because it was necessary to drip anyway (so as not to aggravate the glaucoma), after the results of this DNA test, I consulted with the pharmacist about which eye drops I could take without getting side effects. I've been using these eye drops for a few weeks now and I like them. By stopping the old drops, all complaints have disappeared and I feel much better. The pharmacy was also happy with this DNA test and all the results were put in my file. But I notice that both the general practitioner and some specialists, including an ophthalmologist, don't really know what to do with it. That's a shame, because they can certainly do something with it in practice to look for the right medicines. The debriefing with the test researchers was useful and explained a few things, giving you better insight to test medicines in the future to see if they are suitable for you. I was also told how my personality works. What I already thought was that I was/am HSP and this is also clear from the test. In any case, a nice confirmation about a number of personality traits, which I already thought I had. I advise everyone to take the DNA test, especially if there are medications that you can't tolerate well and that can then be taken into account. A disadvantage of the test is that it can only be viewed online by the treating physicians, who do not feel like looking it up, it turns out on closer inspection. It would be useful if some kind of document rolls out that is easy to print, so that you can hand it over to the doctor. That is impossible now and I have cut and pasted to make this possible for myself. I can also give the doctors a global result to easily see. If a doctor wants to know more, he or she can get a login code to view all the results online. Have been taking medication since 2015 and have suffered quite a bit from side effects. If I had had access to the Personal Medicine test earlier, I would have been spared a lot of trouble. My experiences are completely in line with the results of the test. What is unfortunate is that not every practitioner uses or wishes to make use of the test results. For example, if I'm not careful, medication is still provided that is not the best choice for me. I would like to be informed if and when a practitioner consults the DNA results. After all, the data is my property. The ease with which side effects are seen as a necessary evil in the use of medication is outdated. My insurer CZ also does not see the usefulness and necessity of a DNA/medicine test, at least the test is not reimbursed. There are considerable savings to be made and the quality of life of an insured person as well as the treatment can be greatly improved if the use of medication is tailored to the patient and the right medicine is provided in the right dosage. There is still a long way to go. The communication with and guidance of Meamedica could be better, reason for me to give a rating of 4* instead of 5*. Conclusion: Extremely interesting development.

Very nice that it is possible to have a DNA test done here to find out how your body reacts to medication. Unfortunately it takes a very long time, on October 8, 2021 I sent in the test and the full results came on December 3. That is 8 weeks instead of the advertised 3 to 4 weeks. The planned explanation could not take place from my side and to date (2.5 months later) it has not been possible to make a new appointment for this. Also, given the higher price, I would have it done elsewhere if possible.

I'm so glad I did this DNA test, for weeks I didn't feel well with my medication and then the test showed that the current medication is not processed properly by my body. I immediately went to my therapist and switched to the medication that was suitable according to my DNA. Only downside was the waiting time which was significantly longer than 4 weeks. I ordered the DNA test because I wanted to know if the SSRI I have been taking for 10 years suits me. After the results, I received an explanation by phone, which made everything completely clear. The test showed that the SSRI is fine for me. It also emerged that I am more sensitive to stress than others, because it takes longer for me to break down dopamine. I have been suffering from severe side effects of medication for years, and often the medication makes me sicker than the condition itself. On the recommendation of an acquaintance, I had a DNA test done at MijnMedicijn. The test revealed that I respond less effectively to the use of statins for high cholesterol. This explained the pain in my thighs, for example, when climbing stairs. In consultation with my doctor, I stopped taking statins. Additionally, my CYP4F2 gene, which is involved in blood clotting, functions less effectively. That is still being investigated. All in all, I am glad I had the DNA test done.

I definitely give this program 5 stars. The program is very accessible as well as the administrators. Especially the pharmacist. The program is very client friendly and easy to use. The scan indicates whether there are any conflicts with the use of medicines, especially those based on DNA strands. You can add your doctor as practitioner so that he can first see if there is any conflict when he wants to prescribe something. You can also take the program with you on your phone or iPad. I had a DNA test done in connection with various medications that I am taking. The description that came with the package to take a sample of cheek mucus from myself was clear. After about 4 weeks I got a result. I can find a lot of extra information and explanation on my personal account. I can also ask to see what certain combinations of medicines do. I had some questions by email and they were dealt with very well. I even got a call. I was able to make a printout for my doctor, but that information is very limited, much less than on my account. My doctor has contacted with my consent and has suggested creating a treating physician portal that can be activated by the patient itself. They also started working on that and that will soon be tried out by me, I understood. If I start using other medication in the future, my profile will automatically adjust. Before I decide to try a medicine, I can also have it assessed through my DNA profile. I paid the costs myself, it is not cheap and I actually think that the health insurance should cover it or part of it. Taking unsuitable medication for years with a chronic illness also costs money.

Because I experienced a number of problems due to medication that I would rather have been ahead of, I was immediately interested in taking the DNA test of this site. Actually, I thought it was exciting to hand over my DNA and of course I had to think about the costs. When I read the other reviews and researched a little more about the test and looked at information about the company involved, I decided to do it. The test kit was easy to use and the results came earlier than I expected and with a clear and understandable explanation. It appeared to explain that certain medicines had a stronger effect and side effect than normal for me. But there was also other information about certain genes that I have that can also help me well. That was quite a surprise, the explanation was very clear there too. I also recognize things that come out of this, such as a slightly delayed blood clotting (those big bruises). I can also fill in medicines that I might want to use in the future and I can then see if they may be processed with delay. Apparently you will soon be able to send a link/access for this to your doctor. I also had the opportunity to discuss my result with a pharmacist and I learned a lot from that. I also liked the communication with the site owners and you get an immediate answer, which gives confidence. All in all, I certainly do not regret taking this test. I am fully convinced to give this research 5 stars. It has given me a lot of insight into my use of medication and its effect or minimal effect. The results are presented in an understandable form and provide a unique insight into your own DNA. The possibility is offered to ask additional questions as soon as the results are known and if not everything is clear yet. The impact on my personal situation is great, I can now, in collaboration with a specialist, better “tailor” the medication to my body and I can now avoid particularly unpleasant side effects of medicines. It is actually strange that pharmacogenetic research is not yet a standard procedure for specialists, with the information problems with medication can be prevented, which until now had to be determined by experiment. After all, that is a very strong point! Other strengths are that the test is very comprehensive and that even more genes will be added when more information is available, I understand. After the results of the test, I soon received an email from the pharmacist with the question whether all the information was clear and whether I might need a telephone call to explain the results. I have done that. The pharmacist really took the time to do this. These kinds of tests are simply not cheap. I use medication and after this test I know why I have to take into account the dosage for certain medicines in connection with the risk of side effects or the effect of a medicine or certain substances in general. A lot of other companies can learn something from this customer service as far as I'm concerned. So after these experiences I give the test, the top service and the website 4 stars. I have been taking antidepressants for several months now and I feel these are not working properly. I also had a lot of side effects from the medication. My husband pointed me to the DNA test for my medication. After reading the website, we ordered the DNA test and received it very quickly. Fortunately, the results followed quickly, and a very good explanation! It's nice to know which gene I have. I also found out that those many side effects really had to do with my DNA, I am just mega sensitive. I could email them some questions (a response within a few hours!) and I even had a nice telephone conversation about the results. All in all, I really advise everyone to take a DNA test, it is a bit of an expense but definitely worth it. I am never really quick to believe in these studies, but this has certainly proven otherwise. If you are not sure if you have the right medication, I will really advise you this test. Actually, doctors in the Netherlands should perform a test before they prescribe medication in a standard dosage and that saves people a lot of searching and fears. If I knew I was so sensitive, I would have liked to build up much more slowly with my medication.

A test that you can show to general practitioners and specialists, but which in my case has made a lot very clear to me. Until now, I did not feel understood if I could not handle a medicine again. Now it is black on white why this works differently for me. A good example is that now that I know that COMT gen is not working well, I've come to understand why I remain so stiff from the stress long after fear and shock. I've always thought that I was a weak person who could not bear anything. But now I see myself and the doctors in a different light. This test has given me and my treating physicians a great deal of insight, why I often respond paradoxically and with enormous and partly very severe side effects to certain medications, and why, for example, a necessary chemotherapy became life-threatening and I had to stop prematurely. For me personally, the knowledge of certain results gives me peace of mind and I can also accept things better now that I understand the reason. The link/relationship with the "involved" medicines, including those that are not taken by the user, may be easier. Eg. a hyperlink by clicking on the gene. Update: I may have overlooked it last time, but now I see indeed that per gene via "affected medicines" the list of affected medicines is listed as I intended, so my previous comment is no longer relevant. What is useful, perhaps, is also a reverse approach, so not via the gene, but vice versa. In my opinion, a doctor still selects a medicine based on a complaint pattern and practical experience and it is easy to also have a list/table with the medicines involved and the reference to the genes. I don't use any medication now, but the results can probably be used if I ever switch antidepressants. Would I recommend this test? I find that difficult for someone else to say, since it only has a partial influence. But I choose yes, because this is the future.

I am aware that I have to do this with caution as doctors are rather skeptical about examinations performed by third parties. I have already made the first move and I noticed a cautious restraint with my specialist, but it was certainly not a closed door. This will be therefore continued.
For me personally this test offers a certain peace. I can better accept the somewhat severe side effects now that I understand the reason. At the hospital I am assigned to a group of people who use pazopanib and other medication, but I now know why I sometimes respond differently to medication.
