Kyleena

Levonorgestrel (19,5MG) for Contraception / birth control

Positives: 1- Small, so placement didn't hurt, and no contact/pain during sex 2-Effectiveness 3- Price. IUDs are usually free with most healthcare Negatives: 1- Everyone's different, but it felt like I was PMSing 24-7. I was crazy bloated, had insane cravings (never liked sugar, but would regularly eat excessive sweets while I had it) 2- Weight gain. I thought females were full of it wh...

The first two years were perfect! I had no problems at all, after two years the acne came along with regular brown discharge and very frequent periods. It is a relief that i dont have to take these pills anymore.

I always had this, but t with this IUD it increased. after the Mirena was removed, everything turned back to normal.

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel (2,7/11,7mg) for contraception / birth control

Locally inserted hormons instead of through the entire body through 'the pill'. Saves me from lots of side effects caused by this.

Levonorgestrel (19,5mg) for contraception / birth control

Had Kyleena for about 5 months now and I'm really happy with it. Absolutely no negative side effects whatsoever. After a bit of spotting in the first week, I haven't had any periods at all. It was a little painful having it inserted, but it went away soon enough, for me.

Mirena

Levonorgestrel (52mg) for contraception / birth control

After my pregnancies, a coil seemed to be the solution as I can't handle and contraceptive pills because they give me migraines. But the whole time I had this, I had ongoing blood loss, for more than 3 months. Horrendous. I was so weak. When I went to see the gynaecologist, I was told that everything was fine and I just had to be patient. Then when I went back to see my doctor for what felt lik...

Implanon

9/25/2017 | | 25moderated by Philip
Etonogestrel (68mg) for contraception / birth control

I chose to have implanon because it's supposed to be very user-friendly. You can't forget it and it's an excellent contraceptive. It certainly did the job. I hardly had any periods, that was great. But I'm noticing more and more problems. Depression, dry vagina, reduced libido, now and then extended periods of spotting. Probably also dry skin and eczema (but that will go over time). I really wa...

Yasmin

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol (20ug/3mg) for contraception / birth control

I used the cheap version of Yasmin, ethinylestradiol drospirenone. I felt less happy when taking this pill. I also took it for years. The last year I started suffering from extreme hair loss, this was confirmed by the result of a biopsy taken by a dermatologist. Two months ago I stopped taking it and since then I've gone down from losing 400 hairs to 40 hairs a day. I will never take this pill...

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol (20ug/3mg) for contraception / birth control

Terrible!!! Not wanting to have sex for 2 years. Even if your boyfriend does. Constant rejection, not getting aroused, thinking you must be asexual, unsure if you're normal because you don't want to have sex. And my boyfriend? Just had to accept it. Unsure about the relationship. Everything. Never taking the pill again!!!!!! Happy with ladycomp, supported by the health insurers and easier that ...

Mirena

Levonorgestrel (52mg) for contraception / birth control

After 5 years satisfied walked around with my Mirena, he had to be replaced in May. The replacement really hurt a lot. Cramps still had 2 to 3 days. After a month or two I was suffering from gloom and unexplained migraines, worse than I normally had. Recently I heard that the Mirena today contains a new substance that causes this. Have him let it remove August 31st. My headaches and a porti...

Levonorgestrel (52mg) for contraception / birth control

With the first IUD it went very well. With the second, it's not as good. I have a loss of libido, fatigue, sadness and especially 10 kilos more in 10 years since the break. Still, I do 4 hours of sport a week, I have extreme food hygiene, a mandatory hydration but I intend to have it removed before its expiration date. I hope this time my gynecologist will agree, because the last time he did no...

Levonorgestrel (24 microgram/24h) for contraception / birth control

I'm a 21-year-old woman with no children and I've had the mirena for about one and a half years now, after taking the pill for 4 years. The insertion was okay, painful but over quickly. Then I had spotting and cramps for about 3 weeks but that soon went away. Subsequently I had very light periods every month, which became less and less after about 9 months. Unfortunately, I have really struggle...

Mirena

Levonorgestrel (0) for contraception / birth control

After an ectopic pregnancy on the copper coil, I switched to the Mirena and I'm now on my second one, after a planned pregnancy. While it's great that I hardly menstruate at all, I've definitely noticed an effect on my "personality". I am a lot more anxious and emotional. Sometimes I don't even recognise myself when I overreact to some things. All really quite worrying. My libido is also really...

Medroxyprogesterone (150mg/ml) for contraception / birth control

Because of bleeding between periods, switched to this injection on the advice of the GP. I had the first one in August. The first two months were fine but then in October I had my first period and it lasted for 3 weeks. Afterwards I was very tired, dizzy and felt completely powerless. Then I had another period in December that lasted for 5 weeks and another week of spotting. After that week, I ...

Levonorgestrel (52mg) for contraception / birth control

I had a mirena coil inserted four years ago because I was fed up of taking the pill. The insertion itself was incredibly painful (I haven't had children) and I had stomach ache all day as well as sleeping a lot, but it's totally worth it. I hadn't had a period at all until last month when I suddenly got cramps and bled for a few days. I do notice that I still suffer with period pains (binge eat...

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol (20ug/3mg) for contraception / birth control

I have switched from the mirena coil to the Yasmin pill and up to now I have been quite happy with it. I had the coil for years and I was fine with it until the last time, when I started retaining a lot of water and ended up putting on quite a lot of weight. I had the last coil taken out after 1 year and started using the Yasmin. I stopped retaining water, got my old life back and my weight bac...

Mirena

Levonorgestrel (52 mg) for contraception / birth control

I had it inserted during my period (the cervix is easier to reach during that time). I was very happy using Mirena at first. After 3 months my period disappeared. However after a year started getting serious acne problems. At first I didn't relate it to the Mirena, because I had a lot of stress during my studies. After graduation the acne remained and I started looking for side effects caused b...
